Al Jarreau.
I was only 14-15 years old listening to his album We Got By, and I knew every little phrase and scat by heart. I could sing the whole album in harmony and I spent hours in my room with these songs. Al jarreau was my first true musical hero.
Later, I was so lucky to sing with him for real. Al came to Oslo to record a duet with me, and we sang live together several times. He became a special friend. We invited him for dinner in our house in Oslo, Heine cooked bacalao for him, and Al sang Take Five for my little daughter Karla in my livingroom, backing himself only with his knife and fork. We all kept smiling for many days after he`d left.
Al was an extremely generous and kind man. He made everyone feel special. He was just like his songs.. playful and totally free..,not limited to any genre. He opened the door into music for me.
I am so sad that he as passed away.
But he won`t stop singing. My signed vinyl We Got By will keep playing out loud in my living room.. and I keep doing the scat singing with him, in harmony. Thank you Al Jarreau.

Michael CzernetzkiHe was one of my favorite (Jazz) musicians. Casino lights was my first CD even before I had a CD player and his open air concert in Stadtwäldchen in Budapest in 1996? was the most intimate.
